The Ins And Outs Of Self Publishing

There is some debate over the topic of self publishing. There are those who love it and those who say that it is ruining the writing industry. So, lets examine the ins and outs of self publishing. Then you can decide what you think about the process.

Let's start with some of the good points about it. For example, it allows anyone to become the author that they dream of becoming. That's mainly thanks to Print On Demand technology.

The Old Way:

You see, the old way of becoming an author was to do one of two things. The first option was to send manuscripts to major publishing houses and hope you were selected. The second was to self-publish, which meant paying out of your own pocket to have copies printed and then trying to sell those books to get your money back, plus a profit, if you were lucky.

Due to the rejections and time and money lost, many people didn't bother getting published in the old days. They just let their dreams of being an author die. Those that did try often wound up losing money, not making any.
