Publishing Tips:

If you use the self publishing techniques properly, they can be a great thing. You just need to know how to make the industry work for you. The first big tip is to check your facts and make sure your work is edited. Also, if you aren't sure how to proceed, just use others as an example. Check out successful self published works and see how you can learn from them.

Sales can also be an issue. Don't worry, though. You can sell copies in bulk to other companies and then they can sell them to others. That means a lot less work for you. You can also work with someone else who has a non-competing product. If you each advertise your products together, you will both get many more sales.

The New Way:

The New Way:

The new way is with digital technology and the Internet. Thanks to technological advancements, people can now order book printing online. Those books can then be digitally printed after each order. That means the person paying for the book spends the money, not the person who wrote it or the publishing house.

Typically, the publishing company that runs the website and the author just split a portion of each sale. That way, everyone is happy and more profits can be made. So, everyone wins.

Everyone Is Doing It:

Unfortunately, the good point that anyone can be an author is also a bad point. Since anyone can now write anything, not all information can be trusted. Nobody has to have credentials, experiences or be certain ages to use POD technology to get published.

That also means that a lot of works published the new way are full of typos and incorrect facts. Much of what is written is all Dependant upon the author's interpretation of events and abilities as a typist and writer. Some authors do go the extra mile to get their work professionally edited and their facts checked, but it's hard to weed their works out of a see of useless books.

The Ins And Outs Of Self Publishing

There is some debate over the topic of self publishing. There are those who love it and those who say that it is ruining the writing industry. So, lets examine the ins and outs of self publishing. Then you can decide what you think about the process.

Let's start with some of the good points about it. For example, it allows anyone to become the author that they dream of becoming. That's mainly thanks to Print On Demand technology.

The Old Way:

You see, the old way of becoming an author was to do one of two things. The first option was to send manuscripts to major publishing houses and hope you were selected. The second was to self-publish, which meant paying out of your own pocket to have copies printed and then trying to sell those books to get your money back, plus a profit, if you were lucky.

Due to the rejections and time and money lost, many people didn't bother getting published in the old days. They just let their dreams of being an author die. Those that did try often wound up losing money, not making any.
